Daniela Filipescu from Romania became a candidate for the WFSA presidency in the WFSA Board and consul candidacy election to be held in March next year. Daniela Flipescu is currently the secretary of the WFSA and has been a WFSA council member since 2016.
Prof. Filipescu gathers her vision around five main items.
- Champion the vital role of anaesthesiologists in global and planetary health, through advocacy, collaborative projects with surgeons, obstetricians and other stakeholders involved in the high-quality emergency, critical, and operative acute care of the patients; sustainability projects and activities;
- Strengthen Member Societies and enhance professional networks, through increased relevance of the WFSA for its Members and for practicing anaesthesiologists; support of Member Societies in development and implementation of National Surgical, Obstetric and Anaesthesia Plans; strengthening collaboration between WFSA, Regional Sections and Member Societies; support and strengthening the WFSA Secretariat in delivering and coordination of the activities;
- Advance anaesthesiologist leadership within healthcare, through education, mentorship, sponsorship; support of diversity, equity and inclusion in anaesthesiology; support of Members’ actions for implementation of the relevant WHO resolutions; increased visibility of the anaesthesiologists’ role outside the operating room, as leaders of the medical team carrying for the patients perioperatively – implementation of intensive postoperative care as part of the anaesthesiologists’ practice;
- Work with Member Societies to ensure a well-trained and resilient workforce, through education; collaboration between Member Societies and with international bodies on anaesthesiology workforce and well-being issues; collaborative projects for reducing migration of workforce from low- to high resourced countries;
- Improve safety and quality in anaesthesiology, through continuing worldwide implementation of the Helsinki Declaration on Patient Safety in Anaesthesiology and International WHO-WFSA standards for safe practice of anaesthesia; sharing and developing quality indicators for anaesthesiology practice, sharing and developing clinical guidelines for practice.
