The Balkan Anesthesia Platform (BAP) successfully held its Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting online on 30 March 2026 at 19:00 CET, bringing together representatives of member societies from across the Balkan region. During the meeting, participants reviewed the Platform’s recent activities and adopted several important decisions aimed at strengthening regional collaboration and supporting the future development of BAP.

Key Decisions of the General Assembly
The Assembly unanimously approved several strategic decisions designed to enhance the Platform’s inclusiveness and sustainability.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership and invaluable contribution to the establishment and development of BAP, Prof. Meral Kanbak was appointed Honorary President of the Balkan Anesthesia Platform.
The Assembly also appointed the following distinguished founding members as Honorary Members:

- Prof. Mirjana Shosolceva
- Prof. Feyhan Ökten
- Prof. Fatma Sarıcaoğlu
Furthermore, it was agreed that the Honorary President and Honorary Members will form an Advisory Board, providing strategic guidance and ensuring continuity in the future development of the Platform.
To further promote inclusivity and regional cooperation, the General Assembly decided to remove the limitation on the number of member societies representing each country. This important amendment will allow broader participation and create new opportunities for collaboration throughout the Balkan region.
